Please see below for locations/availability. There are also several volunteer opportunities to help support the YMCA Swim Team. Swimmers are encouraged to attend at least 2-3 practices a week. The YMCA Swim Team offers up to three practice times a week for beginning swimmers and more for advanced groups. The YMCA swim team is a developmental swim program run by trained coaches to improve swimmers' competitive skills and endurance through progression rather than intense competition. Mastery of strokes is NOT required to join!īecoming a member of the YMCA Swim Team means fun, fitness and teamwork.Can demonstrate the fundamentals of a forward dive from the edge of the pool.Can demonstrate the fundamental knowledge of what breaststroke and butterfly should look like.Can swim 25 yards backstroke demonstrating good body position.Can swim 25 yards freestyle demonstrating breathing to the side and good body position.Be able to demonstrate the following skills:.Practices: Swimmers can attend all practice days or a combination of days that work for their schedule.This competitive program offers children and teens an opportunity to work with trained coaches to improve swimming skills, endurance and promote a healthy lifestyle. swimmers are required to compete in at least one swim meet a year. swim team at tryouts will be working on improving and refining all strokes, developing powerful swimming by utilizing enhanced stroke and breathing techniques, and increasing stamina. Swimmers that have progressed or have been placed into Sr. swim team are working towards meeting and surpassing individual goals to compete in swim meets and eventually move up to our Sr. swim team is a entry level team that focuses on building the swimmers stroke skills and techniques. If the child does not pass the tryout, you will be given options to progress the swimmers skills to work towards joining the team. This is decided by Head Coach Laurie after the child tries out for the team. swim team is for swimmers who have passed level 5/6 group lessons or who are able to swim 25yrds of freestyle breathing to the side and 25yrds of backstroke. To join junior swim team you MUST schedule a tryout with coach Laurie Fletcher. ![]() If you do not have goggles, you can purchase a pair at the front desk. Swimmers must provide their own goggles.
